AUGUSTA, Ga. -Mrs. Betty Kendrick Denton, age 67, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2001, at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Augusta, she was an avid Bingo player at the American Legion Post of Highland Avenue and she was a member of Central Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gene Denton, Augusta; two sons, Donald E. Sherrod, Midville and Gerald E. Denton, Hephzibah; one brother, Thomas Kendrick, Hephzibah; two sisters, Louise Sease, Grovetown and Robbie Newby, Augusta; and four granddaughters, Rachel and Natalie Sherrod and Cherie and Heather Denton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001, from the chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair Street with Dr. Bobby Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
