CHARLESTON, S.C. - Mary C. Owens, 90, of Charleston, died Saturday, July 21 at a local nursing home. Born in Charleston to the late John P. and Marie Benedikt Comerford. She was the widow of the later Edwin Chandler Owens Sr. Mrs. Owens was a graduate of Mememiger High School and later retired from Carolina Floral. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, St. Marys Alter Society, a volunteer at St. Francis Xavier Hospital - Bon Secours and a member of The Catholic Womens Deanery. She is survived by two sons, John C. Owens and wife Bobbie of Denver, Colorado and James B. Owens and wife Susan of Charleston; a son E. Chandler Owens Jr., predeceased her. Also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight, Monday, July 23 from 6 to8 p.m. with a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 at St.Marys Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
