SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Amy Alcott, who withdrew from the final round of the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic and was hospitalized with chest pains, said Wednesday that tests showed she suffered from dehydration and a slight viral infection.
Alcott, inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame last year, plans to return next week in the Big Apple Classic in New Rochelle, N.Y.
"Initial reports indicate it was the result of chest pains, and I am relieved my symptoms were the result of dehydration and a virus," Alcott said in a statement. "The outpouring of support and affection from friends, family and fans was overwhelming and heartwarming, and I cannot tell you how much it meant to me."
Alcott had rounds of 71-72-71 in Ohio until having to withdraw.
