AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, June 2, 2001, at his residence, Mr. Benjamin (Ben) Franklin Rhodes Sr. of Martin Luther King Blvd. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 3 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Singleton officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine African Methodist Episcopal Church, Jackson, S.C. He was a native of Kathwood, S.C. He retired from Georgia Railroad and was a member of Bannaker Lodge #3 F&AM. Survivors are four daughters, Elease Rhodes, Gloria Jean Rhodes, Bernice (Carlos) Newton, Dorothy (David) Reid, Augusta; five sons, Johnny E. (Mary Ann) Walker, Macon, Ga., Benjamin F. Rhodes Jr., Marvin Rhodes, Melvin Rhodes, Augusta, David Rhodes, Las Vegas, Nevada; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rincy M. Walker, Montgomery County, Ga.; and a host of other relatives. Williams Funeral Home, 1765 Martin Luther King Blvd.
