June 9 and June 16: A fishing class for youth will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Sportsman outfitters on Washington Road in Martinez. The classes are sponsored by Southern Outdoorsmen.
June 9: A Kids Fishing Derby will begin at 8 a.m. at Clay Pit Lakes 2 and 3 at Fort Gordon. Fishing for stocked catfish is free for children 15 and under. Prizes will be awarded. Signs will be posted with directions from Gates 1 and 5. Call 791-8953 for information.
June 14: The third annual Swamp Soiree, a benefit for Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hale and Lelia Barrett's house on the Savannah River. Tickets are $55 per person. Cal 828-2109 for information.
