LINCOLNTON, Ga. - William Wade Maxwell Sr., 83, formerly of Lincolnton, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Candler County Hospital, Metter, Georgia. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at Lincolnton City Cemetery. Mr. Maxwell was a native of Wilkes County but had lived in Lincolnton most of his life. He was a retired jeweler and charter member of Morningside Baptist Church. He was a member of the National Jewelers Association, member of Homer Legg #535 Order of Eastern Star and Lincolnton F&AM #354. Mr. Maxwell was the son of the late Thomas Maxwell and Frances Smith Maxwell. He is survived by his wife, Maggie East Maxwell; a daughter, Sandra M. Bell; sons, W. Wade Maxwell, Harlem, David T. Maxwell, Watkinsville; three sisters, Louise Kelly, Tifton, Ga., Kathleen Kennedy, Greenville, S.C., Ibby Smith, Ellenwood, Ga.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Glenn Gentry, Richard T. Maxwell, William D. Norman, Edward Pethel, Henry Vaughn, Dennis L. Reeves Jr. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Georgia.
