BEST BUYS: Here's a comparison of sale items promoted in the grocery store advertisements inserted in this week's newspaper. We highlight prices of identical items when possible.
NOTE: Bi-Lo, Food Lion and Kroger sales apply only to customers who have the store's discount card.
When items are grouped (i.e., two for $5), the customer can buy one and get the sale price ($2.50 each). That also applies at most stores to buy-one, get-one-free offers. For example, if two bags of chips are $4, the customer can buy one bag for $2. The exceptions are meat at Kroger and all items at Winn-Dixie, where shoppers must purchase both items to receive the discount.
