METTER, Ga. - Sgt. Wilbur Berry, age 53, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Candler County native began his service in law enforcement with Tattnall County in 1972. He served eight years in Candler County before serving twenty years with the Bulloch County Sheriffs Department. Surviving are his wife, Judy Berry; four sons, Troy L. Berry, Christopher L. Berry, Terry L. Berry, Brian L. Berry, all of Metter; one daughter, Melissa Faye Brown of Portal; his mother, Maude Wood of Louisville, Ga; three brothers, Earl Berry of Metter; Glynn Berry of Metter; and Jeff Berry of Bath, S.C.; three sisters, Ann Blocker of Louisville, Ga., Delann Beasley of Metter, and Donna Collins of Bath, S.C.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Berry will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Beasley and Rev. Bobbie Dismuke officiating. Burial will be in the Berry family Cemetery on Watson-Spells Road in Candler County. Pallbearers will be Rodney Lastinger, Ray Cannon, Randy Woodcock, Ed Atkins, Casey Rogers, and Gordon Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Bulloch County Sheriffs Office, Candler County Sheriffs Office, and all other Bulloch County Public Safety Personnel. Visitation will be held Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. at Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sergeant Wilbur L.
