Jackets lose third in row to Lexington



LEXINGTON, Ky. - Michael Rosemond and John Buck had two home runs apiece as Lexington beat Augusta 7-3 on Monday night in a South Atlantic League game before 4,234 fans.

Nick Roberts pitched eight strong innings and held off a ninth-inning rally as the Legends beat the GreenJackets for the third straight game.

Roberts entered the ninth inning with a 7-1 lead but gave up two runs before preserving the victory to improve to 4-1. Three Augusta pitchers gave up seven hits, and all of the Legends' runs were earned.

Lexington broke open a 1-1 game by scoring one run in the fourth inning and three in sixth. Augusta starter Luis Peres (L, 3-3) and reliever Franklin Francisco absorbed the damage before Joseph Troilo entered and gave up two runs in the seventh and eighth.

Catcher Bryan Barnowski led Augusta with two hits and scored two runs. The only other GreenJacket who managed more than one hit was first baseman Dustin Brisson.

The two teams conclude the four-game series tonight at 7:05. Augusta travels to Charleston, W Va., on Wednesday for a four-game series before returning home Memorial Day.
