Jim Burton will return to the Augusta Lynx next season as head coach and director of hockey operations.
Lynx general manager Mike Pierson spoke with Mr. Burton early this morning to confirm the coach's return. When Mr. Burton joined the team in January, the Lynx held a losing record and were near the bottom of the ECHL standings. The team rallied under Mr. Burton to a 21-13-3 record and a playoff appearance.
"Retaining coach Burton was my number one priority," Mr. Pierson said. "The ownership group and myself fully believe that Jim can continue the success that he produced at the end of last season."
Mr. Burton will be officially introduced as the Lynx coach for next season next week.
