Mrs. Miriam Gaines

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center, Mrs. Miriam C. Gaines of Webster Road. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Mount Olive Memorial Garden with Father Allan McDonald officiating. She was a native of Richmond county, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a former member of the Legion of Mary, secretary of Augusta Courea Legion of Mary, president of PCCW at ICA, past president of Augusta Denary Council of Catholic Women, vice president of Federal Employed Women, board member of Church Women United and Eucharistic minister for Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a 1957 graduate of Paine College with a Bachelors degree in Education, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and a retired U.S. Civil service employee at Ft. Gordon, as an educator coordinator. Survivors include a son, Glenn M. Gaines, Augusta, Ga.; brother, James W. (Madine) Cummings, Augusta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Twala Samuels, Sacramento, Calif., LaToya Gaines, Durham, N.C., Allen M. Gaines, Augusta, Ga.; and a host of other relatives.
