Mrs. Josie Chavis

EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Josie Chavis, 68, of Cox Road, Evans, loving wife of 50 years to Mr. Bruce Chavis, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. from Platts Funeral Home, Evans, on Saturday, May 5, 2001, with Reverend Larry Harmon of West Acres Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Additional survivors include one son, Mr. Bruce Chavis Jr. of North Augusta, S.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Linda K. Vaughn of Evans; two brothers, Mr. Curtis Hudson of Warner Robbins and Mr. Virgil Dave Hudson of Hawkinsville; four grandchildren, Lee Vaughn, Victoria Vaughn, Cindy Boatwright, and Tina Boatwright; three grandchildren and her special friends, Larry and Barbara Boatwright. A native of Vienna, Ga., Mrs. Chavis was a resident of Evans for 31 years. Pallbearers for the services will be Jimmy Harper, Felton Butler, Bennie Thompson, Jerry Olson, Howard Jenkins and Carl Spires. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Hepatitis Foundation International, 30 sunrise Terrace, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009.
