Mr. John Meyers III



EVANS, Ga. - Mr. John H. Meyers III, 81, of Washington Commons Rd., died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at the residence. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. from Platts Funeral Home, Evans, on Thursday, May 3, 2001, with Reverend David Hunter from the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection officiating. Burial will be private. Survivors include a son, Mr. John H. Meyers of Lincolnton; two daughters, Mrs. Paloma M. Costello of Martinez and Mrs. Brenda M. Wong of Augusta; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Meyers Anderson of Evans; four grandchildren, Brandon Meyers, J. Karl Moore, Christopher Mathewson and Brian Mathewson; one great-grandson, Taylor Mathewson; one niece, Ann Meyers Spray and his cousin, Clarence Nixon. Mr. Meyers was preceded in death by his twin brother, Mr. Walden Meyers. A native of Augusta, Mr. Meyers was a fire fighter for the Richmond County Fire Department, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, the Georgia State Firefighters Association and a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army.
