Mrs. Ora Lee Matthews



AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mrs. Ora Lee D. Matthews, 80, of Titantic Road, Aiken beloved wife of William Travis Matthews, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in the Earle Church of God with Rev. Billy McNuer officiating. Burial will follow in Earle Church of God Cemetery. Mrs. Matthews died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Pepper Hill Nursing Center. Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Johnny Lee and Bertha Sheppard Douglas and was a lifelong resident of Aiken. She was a member of Merrits Bridge Christian Church, yet attended Earle Church of God. She was active in the Ladies Willing Workers. She was a former employee of the Aiken Nursing Home and a homemaker. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Debra M. McKay, Monetta, S.C., Faye M. Hudson, Aiken; two sons, William Larry ÒBuddyÓ Matthews and Carroll Matthews, both of Aiken. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Goldman and Louise Hobbs both of Windsor. She is survived by five grandchildren, Ashley Hudson, Robbie Hudson, Tiffany Matthews, Kevin Matthews and Lorinda Buffett; two great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley M. Widener and a granddaughter, Melissa Boatwright. Pallbearers will be Jerry Goldman, Robbie Hudson, M.C. Matthews, Charles Matthews, Rodney Buffett, James Enlow and Don Goldman. Memorials may be sent to Earle Church of God, 345 Earle Church Road, Aiken, SC 29805. A visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 30, at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of her son, Buddy Matthews, 1521 Wire Road, Aiken.
