NOTES AND QUOTES

R&R SPELLS RELIEF

The day off came at a good time for a Jackets bullpen that would have been short on available arms if there were a game on Sunday.

Reliever Rene Miniel, who made a spot start Thursday in place of injured starter Mauricio Lara, lasted only 1ä innings.

That forced the Jackets to burn up bullpen innings, with Tony Fontana going four innings and Joe Troilo pitching the final 3â in Augusta's 8-6 win Thursday.

"We would have been a little thin, but the off day really helped us out," Jackets manager Mike Boulanger said. "It puts us right back on track."
