CLEMSON, S.C. -- Scott Autrey struck out six and pitched a complete game to lead North Carolina to a 4-0 victory over Clemson Sunday afternoon.
Autrey (2-3) won a pitching duel that left both teams unable to score until North Carolina (27-23, 7-14 Atlantic Coast Conference) staged a two-out rally in the eighth inning. Adam Greenberg's double scored Ron Braun and Brandon Russell to give the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead. North Carolina added two more runs in the ninth.
Clemson (31-17, 12-6 ACC) got singles by Russell Triplett and Seth Mille with two out in the Tigers' half of the eighth, but Casey Stone grounded to first to end the inning.
Autrey scattered four hits over the game and did not allow a Clemson runner to reach third base.
Steve Reba (8-3) pitched 8 13 innings, allowing four earned runs in the loss.
