Two arenafootball2 players have made the jump to the NFL.

Tulsa wide receiver/defensive back Justin Skaggs has signed an agreement with the Washington Redskins while Roanoke Steam quarterback Dave Meyer signed a rookie free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

In three games this season, Skaggs caught 10 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Meyer, a backup to Michael Vick at Virginia Tech, was 25-of-52 passing for 332 yards and eight touchdowns.

STRANGE FIRINGS, PART I: Two days after Columbus' 66-17 loss at Augusta, Wardogs head coach and offensive coordinator Joe Campbell fired defensive coordinator and assistant head coach Daniel James. Campbell told The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that there are no plans to immediately fill the position and he will take some defensive responsibility.

Ironically, it was the Wardogs' (0-3) offense that was the problem in their loss to Augusta. Columbus, which is 25th out of 28 league teams in scoring offense averaging 27 points per game, had eight turnovers that led to all 35 of Augusta's first-half points. The Stallions scored two defensive touchdowns in the first four minutes of the game.

STRANGE FIRINGS, PART II: The Florida Firecats will have a new public address announcer for its next home game. The team fired Ted Fitzgeorge after he announced a pornographic Web Site during a stoppage of play in the Firecats game against the Carolina Rhinos on Saturday. The Web site is not a sponsor of the team.

GLITCHES: As good a season as he's having, Augusta's Derrick Reeves does not have nine sacks in four games like it is listed on the af2 stats. Some arenafootball2 teams are having problems with computer programs and fixing stats has become a chore around the league. Somewhere between Macon and Florida, Reeves was listed with too many sacks and currently leads the league with two unassisted sacks and 14 unassisted tackles. However, he does have a respectable one sack in each of the Stallions' four games this season.

According to af2 director of communications Matt Eres, the league is working to correct all improper stats.

ARENACUP2: The arenafootball2 championship game, the ArenaCup, will be televised live on The National Network (TNN). The game will be broadcast Friday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m.

Last year's game grabbed a .3 share (300,000 households) in the television ratings.
