Mr. James Thomas Sr.



BARNWELL, S.C. - James Donald Thomas Sr., 62, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Medical College of Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, in the First Baptist Church of Barnwell with the Rev. Steve Burnette officiating. Burial will be in the Barnwell County Memory Gardens. Mr. Thomas was born in Barnwell County, a son of Sara Griffin Thomas and the late Harry J. Thomas Sr. He was a graduate of Clemson University and recently retired as a purchasing agent with Clariant Corp. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Barnwell First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Rayner Thomas, Barnwell; a son, James D. (Jamey) Thomas Jr., Fishers, Ind.; two daughters, Kelley T. Carroll, Barnwell, and Lori T. Leonard, Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother, Sara Griffin Thomas, Barnwell; three sisters, Carolyn T. England, Cayce, Phyllis T. Herring, Bamberg, and Camille G. Thomas, Barnwell; nine grandchildren, Sarah Thomas, Clay Thomas, Harley Thomas, Lawson Carroll, Walker Carroll, Walker Carroll, Anna Carroll, Garrett Leonard, Evan Leonard and Bartley Leonard. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Harry J. (Jackie) Thomas Jr. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association; or to the First Baptist Church of Barnwell, S.C.
