For the past 100 years Augustans have been delayed by and inconvenienced for railroads which run down the middle of our streets. Finally, we have a local elected official who has done something about traffic delays.
With the leadership of Augusta Commissioner Steve Shepard hydro switches have been placed on the train tracks. The trains will continue to run down our streets, but the time and delays will be shortened.
Mr. Shepard ran for office on a platform of improving the train situation. He delivered. With the new switches in place, trains will not stop as they cross the business section of Augusta. All of Augusta is better off because of the leadership of Commissioner Shepard.
