Mrs. Betsy Bailey McVay



PELL CITY, Ala. - Elizabeth "Betsy" Bailey Jordan McVay, of Pell City, Ala., died Monday, April 16, 2001, at her home following an extended illness. Memorial services were held Thursday, April 19, at the New Life Assembly of God, Pell City, with longtime friends and former pastor, Gary Linebaugh, Crossville, Tenn., and the Rev. Ken Jones, Pell City, officiating. Mrs. McVay was brought up in Waynesboro on Windy Hill Ranch. She was a 30-year breeder of quarter horses and palominos. She was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and Bob Jones University School of Business. Survivors include her widower, Roger McVay; a son, James M. Jordan III, Alabama; a daughter, Blythe Danielle Jordan, Alabama; four sisters, Nell Bailey Headley, Augusta, Anne Bailey Youmans, Waynesboro, Kay Bailey Stevens, Evans, and Mary Bailey Davis, Cimmarron, N.M.; a brother, James W. "Jim" Bailey Jr., Colleyville, Texas; her mother, Betty Bailey Dant, Waynesboro; her stepfather, Vernon Leroy Dant, Waynesboro; and a grandson, James William Jordan, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late J.W. "Squat Bailey," noted horse breeder and judge. Memorials may be sent to New Life Assembly of God, P.O. Box 922, Pell City, AL 35125.
