Mrs. Dora Overstreet

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dora Overstreet, devoted Christian, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, April 19, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, she had resided in the Augusta area since 1962. Mrs. Overstreet had retired from Fort Gordon, where she worked in the Signal Tower Bldg. on Post for 20 years. A dedicated servant of her Lord, she had been an active member of Morningside Baptist Church since 1968, where she taught Sunday School, was a prayer warrior and a constant worker behind the scenes. Mrs. Overstreet was a talented artist who enjoyed both oil and acrylic painting and was an accomplished musician who enriched the lives of many of her friends and church family through the sharing of her work and talents. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her spouse, Pearce Overstreet, Augusta, Ga.; two daughters, Rosemary Wilk, Augusta, Ga., Susan Ondera, Irmo, S.C.; two sisters, Pat Babcock, Fort Worth, Tex., Peggy Robinson, Hurst, Tex.; five grandchildren, Christina Williams, Geoffrey Wilk, Tracie Ondera, Shanda Penn, Elisabeth Ondera; three great-grandchildren, Tristan Penn, Trenton Williams, Ansleigh Wilk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Overstreet was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose life mirrors that of a rose plucked from Gods Garden of Life whose fragrance will linger on in the lives of many. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2001 from Morningside Baptist Church, with Reverend Kevin Steele and Reverend Don Tipton officiating.Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Douglas Overstreet, Jeffrey Overstreet, Ronnie Overstreet, Keith Lamb and Geoffrey Wilk. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair Street.
