Jackets stop RiverDogs in final game of series



CHARLESTON, S.C. - Augusta scored its runs early and then held on for a 5-4 South Atlantic League victory over the Charleston RiverDogs Friday night.

Augusta scored twice in both the second and third innings and then scored what turned out to be the winning run in the fourth inning.

The run in the fourth gave Augusta a 5-3 lead. Charleston rallied for a run in the eighth, but could get no more.

The victory improves Augusta's record to 9-7. The Jackets are two games behind front-running Columbus in the Southern division of the SAL.

Augusta begins a four-game series at Wilmington, N.C. today.

The GreenJackets return home Wednesday to take on the Capital City Bombers.
