Mr. Herbert Harden

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Herbert Leroy Harden of Gardner Street, Augusta, beloved husband of Mrs. Betty M. Harden, entered into rest Sunday, March 18, 2001, ay University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Platts Crawford Ave. Chapel with the Rev. G. Hubert Story officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Additional survivors include four daughters, Vickie Amerson and Martha Horne, both of Augusta, Barbara Brock of Grovetown, Ga., and Joan Harden of Appling, Ga.; a brother, Sammy L. Harden of Augusta; nine grandchildren, Amy Bailey, Shane Amerson, Tony ÒScootÓ Horne, Lee Harden, Alan Harden, Beth Martin, Angela OByrne, Tricia Gregg and Michael Brock; nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Johnny Melles, John Cook, Herb Norton, David Blount, Lynwood C. Smith and Billy Merry. A native of Jefferson Co., Mr. Harben was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and Georgia State Firemans Association. After 30 years, he retired as a captain with Augusta Fire Department and has worked for University Hospital as a security officer for 11 years.
