DAYTON, Ohio -- Tony Stanley scored 17 points and Brooks Hall added 14 to lead Dayton to a 71-56 victory over Richmond on Monday night in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
With the score tied at 50 with 7:23 remaining, the Flyers (21-12) went on an 18-3 run, paced by Stanley and Hall. A breakaway steal and dunk by Stanley ignited the hometown crowd.
Richmond (22-7) got into foul trouble in the second half, enabling Dayton to seal the game at the foul line.
Greg Stevenson had 21 points and six rebounds for Richmond, but the Spiders were 5-of-20 from 3-point range. The Flyers outrebounded the Spiders 36-28.
Dayton will play Detroit in the third round.
