Augusta selects a new city administrator

By a unanimous vote of 10-0, Augusta commissioners approved the hiring of George Kolb as the city's new administrator. Mr. Kolb, 52, was deputy city manager and director of public utilities in Richmond, Va., from 1992 to January 2001.

The vote came in an afternoon commission meeting at the municipal building.

Mr. Kolb was selected over two other finalists, Hector Rivera, 57, an administrator in Braintree, Mass., and Barry Burton, 36, a deputy county administrator in Franklin County, Ohio.
