BLYTHE, Ga. - Mrs. Lizzie Jane (Parker) Gray, 79, of 170 Murrow Rd., Blythe, Ga., died Friday, March 9, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Gray was a native of Jefferson County Georgia, but had lived in Richmond County most of her adult life. She had worked at Hollingsworth Candy Co. in Augusta and had retired as a school crossing guard at Blythe Elementary School. She was a member of W.M.U. and Church Choir and was a former Sunday School Teacher for many years. Survivors include her husband, James M. Gray Sr. of Blythe; one daughter, Betty G. Broome, Blythe; one son, Bobby Joe Gray, also of Blythe; three grandchildren, James M. Gray III, David Lee Ray, and Vernon W. Broome III, all of Blythe; Three great grandchildern, Justin Broome, Ft. Bragg, Calif.; Ariele Broome, California, and Tracy Broome, Blythe. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Monday, March 12 at 3 p.m. at the Blythe Baptist Church with the Reverends Larry Duncan and Roy Frierson Jr. officiating. Mrs. Gray will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Chancey, Mark Chancey, Craig Chason, Bobby Allen, Wayne Allen, Cal Newman. The family said, ÒMrs. Gray was the best mother and grandmother that anybody could ever have.Ó The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Hephzibah.
