Augusta Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Duncan Wheale was on the front page of the March 3 Chronicle, with his hands in the air, exclaiming, "DFACS has hidden behind a confidentiality shield for too long ... They are not accountable to anyone."
Then there was the list of cases where children were not removed from families deemed inappropriate to keep them. Judge Wheale said he was "sick of seeing children failed" by such an agency.
What about parents? We have been harassed by the Department of Family and Children Services for weeks since a list of false charges were brought against us, charges we proved were false by government documentation. Yet DFACS has continued to harass us.
We have received more attention by total strangers on the street who gawk at our beautiful daughter than by DFACS' Paine College graduate who came to our house, seeking only to fill out some paperwork, who wouldn't have known it if our child had bruises and cuts all over her body.
Is this still the land of the free and home of the brave? Are we still entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? I wonder how much taxpayer money has been wasted on our family alone? We aren't going to tolerate this intrusion into our family any more.
If Judge Wheale really has a heart for young children, let him consider the 40 million brutally murdered young children of this country who didn't have his defense.
