Mr. Charles Hester



MAXEYS, Ga. - Mr. Charles Wesley Hester, 85, of McWhorter Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital, Greensboro.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, Stephens, with Dr. Douglas Butts and the Rev. James Ashe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hester, a native of Wilkes County, had retired as a farmer and a merchant. He was a member of Maxeys' Volunteer Fire Department and Antioch Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Nettie Smallwood Hester; a son, Harvey Hester, Maxeys; two daughters, Marilyn Hester Maddox and LaNelle Hester Mauldin, both of Maxeys; a brother, L.W. Ray, Stephens; two sisters, Ruby Chafin, Rayle, and Sarah Chandler, Middleton; and three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Hubbard, William Dawkins, Jimmy Cabaniss, Wilbert H. Moore Jr., James Black and Harvey Compton.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Antioch Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence of LaNelle Mauldin, 2322 Forest Circle.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Callaway Funeral Home, Union Point.
