NORTH AUGUSTA - Mr. J. Stanley "Pop" Harvey Sr., 80, of West Spring Grove Avenue, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at University Hospital, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rowland Funeral Home with the Rev. Grover C. Lee officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Harvey, a native of Pine Bluff, Ark., had retired as a self-employed lumber broker from Stanley Harvey/Southern Hardwoods-Southern Pine.
The family said: "His passion was thoroughbred horse racing and he traveled to many tracks. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Dolores Contresas Harvey."
Survivors include four sons, Stanley Harvey Jr., North Augusta, Mike Harvey, Atlanta, and Brooks Harvey and Gary Harvey, both of Roxton, Texas; five daughters, Sandra Mareska, Mobile, Ala., Becky Payton, Gloverville, Ginger Harvey, Fort Worth, Texas, Dee Dee Harvey, Cleburne, Texas, and Rosalie Harvey, Pine Bluff, Ark.; a sister, Katherine Padgett, Pine Bluff; and 19 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Montayne Bauer, Owen Johnson, Michael Yates, Stanley Harvey III, Robert Pack and Dennis Dooley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
