Mr. Otto Edward Mertins, 77, of Stone Street, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Poteet Funeral Home, Greene Street, with the Revs. Jack Fuqua and C.W. Edwards Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Mertins, a native of Augusta, was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and had retired as an architectural estimator. He was former owner and operator of Superior Fixtures, North Augusta, and was a former president of Good Sam Club and a former member of Ambucs. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Mertins; two sons, Fritz Mertins, Martinez, and Dennis C. Mertins Sr., Albany; a daughter, Pamela M. Edmunds, Duluth; two sisters, May Morris, Monroe, La., and Deloris Becton, Augusta; and seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Edmunds, Adam Edmunds, D. Mertins Jr., Chuck McNeill, Tommy English, Lester Newsome, Robert Reid, Monroe Wade, Ernest Dinkens, Arthur Grimaud, Rex Whitaker and Julian Florie.

Friends may call at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
