NORTH AUGUSTA - Mr. J. Ray Saverance, 68, of Coventry Circle, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at University Hospital, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Revs. Hal Norton and Thurman Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens Mausoleums.
Mr. Saverance, a native of Florence, had retired as senior vice president from First Union National Bank, Augusta, and was a member of Clemson IPTAY Club and Grace United Methodist Church.
The family said, "He was the son of the late Jesse Ray and Fay Spears Saverance and a foster son of Edwin Lane and the late Sarah Beasley Saverance."
Survivors include his wife, Ann Monroe Saverance; five sons, Charles Edwin Saverance, Florence, Del Ray Saverance and Todd Monroe Saverance, both of North Augusta, Russell Anthony Saverance, Newberry, and Michael Sims Saverance, Summerville; two daughters, Kathy Gilliland, North Augusta, and Jana P. Saverance, Bishopville; his stepmother, Ruth Doris Saverance, Bishopville; a brother, James P. Saverance, Bishopville; a sister, Norma Sharon Heriot, Sumter; and 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Griffin, Jack Rushing, Joe Knight, Joe Reed, Bill Elliott and Don Saverance.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rowland Funeral Home.
