Lynx fall to Everblades

ESTERO, Fla. - The Augusta Lynx remain 0-for-TECO in the regular season.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the opening 9:01 of the contest, the Lynx couldn't hold on Friday night and fell 3-2 to the Florida Everblades at sold-out TECO Arena.

After winning a franchise-record seven straight games, the Lynx (24-25-5- have lost their past two games heading into tonight's rematch with the Everblades at TECO.

Dean Tiltgen scored his 22nd goal of the season just 1:10 into the game, and Jonas Soling netted his 29th goal at 9:01 of the first period to give the Lynx a 2-0 lead.

But it was all Florida from there, as the Everblades peppered goalie Judd Lambert with 45 shots and scored three unanswered goals to avenge their 3-2 loss in Augusta last Saturday - the Lynx's first-ever regulation victory over Florida.

Matt Demarski scored on a power play for Florida midway through the second period, and Jason Morgan and Randy Copley scored in the final period to complete the comeback for the Everblades (27-21-6), who have won eight of their past 11 games.

Although TECO Arena was the site of the greatest victory in Lynx franchise history, the Lynx now are 0-8-1 there in regular-season play. Augusta pulled off a stunning win in Game 5 of the Southern Conference quarterfinals last season to eliminate the Brabham Cup champion Blades in the best-of-five playoff series.

The Lynx entered the game four points behind Baton Rouge for the 10th and final playoff berth in the Southern Conference.

NOTES: Center Lars Pettersen rejoined the Lynx after a stint with Worcester of the American Hockey League. Pettersen was reunited on the Alberta Connection line Friday with Tiltgen and Louis Dumont and assisted on Tiltgen's goal. ... Defenseman Denis Chervyakov, who has been used sparingly the past three weeks, did not make the trip with the team to Florida.
