Fishing tournament news

Columbia County Bass Club

5th annual Open Team Tournament

March 3, site to be announced

$1,000 to first-place team. Entry fee is $60 per team (includes $10 big fish pot). Eighty percent payout, with one place paid for every 10 boats (up to six places). Seven-fish limit, Clark Hill Committee rules apply. Winners subject to polygraph test. Tournament hours 7 a.m. (or safe light) until 3 p.m. Early registration will be held at Augusta Marine on Thursday, March 1, from 6:30 p.m., with boat position drawing at 8. Registration also will be held at the tournament site (to be announced at drawing) from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.

6th annual Jack Wingate Open

Regular tournaments are sponsored by Chuck's Lakeside Marine, Willoughby Ford of Thomson, Ga., Sportsman's Link of Martinez, Rick's Paint & Body of Martinez and White Columns Inn of Thomson. They will be held every Saturday from safe light until 3 p.m., until further notice out of Little River Marina. Tournaments will not be held when dates conflict with Clark Hill Committee events. The Classic, which features a $5,000 guaranteed first-place purse, will be held Saturday from safe light until 3 p.m., with a drive-in weigh-in at Willoughby Ford. Entrants must be there no later than 4 p.m., or risk disqualification. Entry fee is $60 per team, $10 of which goes into the big fish pot. Anglers must fish a minimum of six SMOT events to qualify, or pay $200 to fish the Classic.
