Mr. Eddie Avery Sr.

WRENS, Ga. - Mr. Eddie Avery Sr., 58, of Paradise Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lofton African Methodist Episcopal Church with Dorothy Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Avery, a native of Jefferson County, had retired as a mechanic and was a member of Spring Bethel Benevolent Society and Lofton African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include three sons, Eddie Avery Jr., Trenton, N.J., George Avery, Hamilton, N.J., and Elbert Avery, Wrens; five daughters, Lavon Hood, Baltimore, and Angela Woods, Deann Avery, Ethel Avery and Edora Thompson, all of Trenton; his mother, Adell Avery, Wrens; three brothers, Sammie Lee Avery, Augusta, and John Avery and Walter George Nelson, both of Wrens; a sister, Angela Lane, Wrens; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Avery, Harry Avery Sr., Grant Boyd, Willie Avery, Gilbert Avery and John R. Avery.

Friends may call at the residence or at Freeman Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
