Mr. Wilbur C. "Whit" Whittet died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Claxton Galloway officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Whittet, a native of Junction City, Kan., had retired as a sergeant from the Army after 30 years and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was Protestant.
The family said, "Mr. Whittet started out his Army career shoeing horses."
Survivors include two daughters, Patty Popoli, Hamden, Conn., and Marylyn Fanwell, Waynesboro; a brother, Jerry Whittet, Laurel, Miss.; a sister, Mae Campbell, Kansas City, Kan.; and 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
