Two teams each from the Augusta Arsenal, Columbia County Patriots and Aiken Fire programs reached the semifinals Saturday or can advance to the finals in play this morning in the 16th annual Augusta Arsenal Spring Shootout soccer tournament at Fort Gordon.
Competition on this second weekend of play, which began Saturday, involves Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina teams from the Under-10 through Under-14 boys age groups .
The Under-14 Augusta Arsenal and the Aiken Fire meet in a semifinal matchup at 8 a.m. Both teams are Division I teams in their respective states.
The U-10 YMCA Jaguars and Aiken Ice are also in the semifinals. The Jaguars are a recreation team that has fared well against select team competition to advance.
The Brookwood Steamer soccer teams from Lilburn, Ga., the Discoveries soccer teams from Fort Mill, S.C., and the St. Giles soccer teams from Greer, S.C., are also in the competition for the finals.
The games are being played at Fort Gordon's Barton field at Fort Gordon. There is no admission charge.
