Mr. Leon Brooks



Mr. Leon Alfred Brooks, of First Avenue, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at W.H. Mays Mortuary with the Rev. Angelo Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Mr. Brooks, a native of Hephzibah, was a Navy veteran of World War II and had retired from Thermal Ceramics.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Brooks; three sons, Leon Brooks, Jersey City, N.J., and James Brooks and Robert Brooks, both of Augusta; five daughters, Lurine Terrell, Bernice Brooks, Evelyn White, Ernestine Jones and Sarah Brooks, all of Augusta; three brothers, Pernell Brooks, Reading, Pa., Eddie Brooks, Boston, and Will Brooks, Augusta; two sisters, Emma Brooks, Detroit, and Naomi Brooks, Hayward, Calif.; and 27 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Walters, Laman Beale, Vernon Holden, Becardrick Hankerson, Marsignor White and Robert Hall.

Friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home.
