Safety first for school bus patrols

A better safety patrol system at school bus stops would be to allow an older student to exit the bus at each stop, but not to cross the street. They should just stand where they have a clear view of those who must cross.

Being a mother of six children who rode school buses, plus having driven a school bus for 23 years (retired), I would not want a child crossing and returning at every stop. It is not safe or fair to have a child in the street that often.

Before you even consider saving money, your first thought has got to be safety for all students who ride school buses.
