MCCORMICK, S.C. - Mr. John Charles Flanagan, 73, of Little River Cottage Site, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pressly Memorial Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Elredge Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery.
Mr. Flanagan, a native of Bronx, N.Y., had retired as a command sergeant major from the Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam and Korean wars. He had retired from Upper Savannah Health Department and was a former president of Lions Club and American Red Cross. He was a member of the McCormick Exchange Club, where he was secretary and treasurer, American Legion Post 19, where he was former commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Pressly Memorial Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Fleming Flanagan; a son, James Clifton Flanagan, Dunnellon, Fla.; two sisters, Lorraine Flanagan and Florence F. Murphy, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Goff, Hugh Goff, Kelley Goff, Bolton Goff, Randy Young, Reid Creswell, Billy Creswell and Jim Cason.
Friends may call at the residence.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Strom Funeral Home.
