Area sports announcements

Note: Announcements for participatory events must be written, delivered, mailed or faxed to The Augusta Chronicle, P.O. Box 1928, Augusta, Ga., 30903-1928, with a return address and phone number. Jan. 11-19: Dixie Youth Baseball registration, Roy Warner Memorial Park, Wagener, S.C. Ages 5-14. Registration fee: $50. No registration after Jan. 19. For additional information, contact Eleanor or Jeremy at (803) 564-6149.

Jan. 19-20: Ninth annual S.C. Baseball Coaches Association clinic, Adams Mark Hotel, Columbia. The clinic will be held 5-10:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, and on Saturday until 1 p.m. Registration fee is $35 through Jan. 7 and $45 thereafter. Classes are now forming for figure skaters of all ages and levels at the Augusta IceForum, with the next eight-week session set to begin Jan. 2. "Skate with Us" classes, sanctioned by the United States Figure Skating Association, are 30 minutes, once a week. Cost is $95 or $111 with skate rental included. Jan. 11: The Augusta Soap Box Derby Association will have a meeting at Fox Appliance Parts on Wrightsboro Road, 7:30 p.m. This year's derby is scheduled June 9 at Fort Gordon with three divisions of competition - stock, super stock and masters.
