THOMSON - Mr. Farris Ivey, 87, of Oates Lane Northeast, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at McDuffie County Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Davenport officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ivey, a native of Hancock County, had retired as an employee of the City of Thomson and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Warrenton.
The family said, "His favorite words were, `Come in, have a seat, and stay a week, and don't eat meat."
Survivors include his wife, Felicia Baker Ivey; two sons, Roosevelt Ivey, Warrenton, and Junior Ivey, Atlanta; three daughters, Fannie Lou Shanks, Rosie Mae Ivey and Annie Mae Sims, all of Thomson; two brothers, Willie B. Ivey, Detroit, and Elliott Ivey, Thomson; a sister, Annie Maryland Shepherd, Detroit; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon today until 12:30 p.m. Friday at Crawford Mortuary and at the church after the service.
