Mr. William Chavis Sr.



SWAINSBORO, Ga. - Mr. William B. Chavis Sr., 81, of Fairground Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hendley, Rountree and Powell Funeral Home with the Revs. Donnie Bush and Kelmer Durden officiating.

Mr. Chavis, a native of Brooks County, was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired from the city of Swainsboro. He was Mormon.

Survivors include five sons, Jimmy Preston Chavis, John Richard Chavis, Jerry Leon Chavis, William Bill Chavis Jr. and Mike Tobe Chavis, all of Swainsboro; a daughter, Bonnie Chavis, Swainsboro; a brother, Junior Chavis, San Antonio; and five grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
