Mrs. Marie Bevins O'Neal, 89, of Appling, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Platt's Funeral Home, North Belair Road, Evans, with the Rev. Jeff Pulliam officiating. Burial will be in Abilene Church Cemetery, Martinez.
Mrs. O'Neal, a native of Martinez, was a homemaker. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, had been elected Georgia Mother of the Year, was former president of the Evans Home Demonstration Club and was a member of Abilene Baptist Church.
The family said, "She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family, and one of her greatest joys was taking her grandchildren to Clark's Hill Lake."
Survivors include three sons, Tommy O'Neal, Appling, Clifford O'Neal, Lauder Hill, Fla., and Gus O'Neal Jr., Evans; three daughters, Frances Dennis and Martha Mahafey, both of Martinez, and Juanita Gilbert, Evans; a sister, Margie Smith, Martinez; and 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Triest, Tom Hazel, Joey New, Wayne Deas, Glen Short and Buddy Crumpler.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
