FLORENCE, S.C. - Know that much-needed momentum the Augusta Lynx had gained prior to the Christmas break, having picked up nine of a possible 12 points in the previous six games?
Forget about it.
Returning from a five-day layoff Friday night, the Lynx suffered their most lopsided loss of the season, a 7-1 thrashing to Pee Dee in the opener of a home-and-home series with the Pride.
Pee Dee jumped to a 3-0 lead before Jonas Soling scored his 18th goal late in the first period to cut Augusta's deficit to two.
The Pride scored twice in both the second and third periods to turn the game into a rout.
The Lynx, who have split four games with the Pride this season, have been outscored a combined 13-3 in their past two trips to Florence. Augusta suffered a 6-2 setback to Pee Dee on Dec. 9.
