WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Edgar William Yates Sr., 76, of Idlewood Road, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Waynesboro Church of God with the Revs. Joey Grizzle and Daniel Douglas officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, Augusta.
Mr. Yates, a native of Hartman, Ark., had retired as a master sergeant from the Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He attended Waynesboro Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Edgar Yates Jr., Atlanta; five daughters, Deborah Ellis, Chattanooga, Tenn., Diana Trice, Newnan, and Melanie Hillis, Melissa Taylor and Tennie Yates, all of Waynesboro; three brothers, Lloyd Yates, Hartman, Doyle Yates, Tulsa, Okla., and Dwight Yates, Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Florine Stabbler and Marie Chapman, both of Tulsa, and Charlene Wofford, Hartman; and 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at DeLoach Funeral Home.
