An Augusta father writes that he doesn't want his children to suffer this year because of his mistakes.
The father of two boys, ages 8 and 16, suddenly found himself struggling to pay the bills because the business he owns is having financial problems.
"I am spending every penny I can scrape together just to put food on the table and pay for necessities such as food and electricity," he writes.
His wife just started a minimum-wage job, but that won't be enough to save Christmas this year.
The father writes that he just wants to be able to put something under the tree this year so he can see his boys smile on Christmas morning.
Through contributions from the community to the Empty Stocking Fund, he will receive gift certificates at local Kroger and Kmart stores.
