Mrs. Flossie Lucas



NEWINGTON, Ga. - Mrs. Flossie B. Roper Lucas, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, Statesboro.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at St. John Baptist Church, Oliver, with the Rev. Rufus Miles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lucas, a native of Screven County, was a homemaker and a member of St. John Baptist Church.

Survivors include eight sons, Robert Lucas Jr., Isiah Lucas, Johnnie B. Lucas, Willie Lucas and Johnny Lee Lucas, all of Newington, Gary Lucas, Dania, Fla., Joseph Lucas, Hollywood, Fla., and James Arthur Lucas, Florida; four daughters, Ernistine German, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Luedell Curtis and Felecia Brown, both of Hollywood, and Barbara Cox, Newington; a brother, Harry Roper, Savannah; a sister, Annia Mae Williams, Oliver; and 46 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Sylvania Funeral Home, Sylvania.
