Ms. Bernita Martin



AIKEN - Ms. Bernita Louise Martin, of Sommer Avenue Northeast, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Slaughter officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Martin, a native of Aiken, was an elementary school teacher. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Second Baptist Church, where she was a member of Church Prayer Warriors.

Survivors include four sons, James Hinton, Bronx, N.Y., and Henry James Croft Jr., Frank Bernard Croft and Daniel Bey, all of Aiken; two daughters, Christina Croft, Aiken, and Dorothy Croft, Mount Vernon, N.Y.; two brothers, William A. Salley III, Aiken, and Clarence Ashby, Columbia; and three sisters, Dorothy McDowell and Teresa Spann, both of Aiken, and Rhea McDowell Brooks, Graniteville.

Pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of Second Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Jackson-BrooksFuneral Home; and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
