Regarding Richmond County money problems: Why not have departments that lose money raise it?
Take the bus system, for instance. The Chronicle reported the system lost almost $2 million last year. Raise the fees to $5 or $10 for each passenger. Do the same at the civic center; it only lost $1 million last year.
How about the money lost on Bush Field every year? Put a toll booth at the beginning of the driveway and charge a $10 passage fee to drive on airport property.
This all sounds dumb, but the money lost is even dumber. The real answer is privatize them. The federal government has been doing it for years. Fort Gordon has most of its services privatized and it saves money and provides better services.
