Thirteen high school athletes have been selected to receive 2000 Greater Augusta Medal for Excellence in Sports awards. Three other Augustans were honored for their sports activities outside of high school.
The presentation will be made Dec. 12 at the Greater Augusta Sports Council Awards Gala at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel. The first Ray Guy Award for college football's top punter also will be presented.
Al Davis, managing general partner of the NFL Oakland Raiders, will be the guest speaker.

Outstanding male: Will Caywood, Greenbrier, football; Chad Thornhill, Greenbrier, baseball; Jason T. Crouse, Evans, basketball.
Outstanding female: Darby Sligh, North Augusta, golf; Abby Tyler, Greenbrier, softball; Jennifer Mathis, Richmond Academy, basketball.
Rising star: Annie Kim, Augusta Christian, cross country; Danny Verdum, Thomson, football; Ashlee Pate, Lakeside, softball.
Para-Olympic Star: Israel Schulz, Lakeside-basketball, soccer, tennis, rugby, swimming.
All-Around athlete: Kellie J. Tiller, Greenbrier-basketball, softball, track; Joel Whinghter, Augusta Christian-football, track; Ryan McArdle, Aquinas-soccer, football, basketball.
Amateur star: Anna Shealy, Augusta Junior Rowing Club; George Kitchens, Academy of Youth Athletics Track & Field; Ralph D. Temple, CSRA Racquetball Club.
